Ye Banks and Braes (Bouman 2016)
Ye Banks and Braes (2016) Musical Medley X Age of Aquarius
Tetraploid, 5, 30, Dormant, Early-midseason. 5 branches, 32 buds.
Medium lavender with an outlined bluish halo around a yellow to green throat. Thin ruffled double edge of dark violet and light lavender. Eye-catching clump appearance.
With music and water in the parents' names, I needed a name suggesting both and chose one of my favorite Robert Burns songs, "Ye Banks and Braes o' Bonnie Doon." The second phrase goes, "How can ye bloom sae fresh and fair," and that's the impression of this cultivar in a clump, "fresh and fair." It caught my eye in the deep confusion of the keeper bed because of the look of those beautiful flowers in a clump.
